The Review of AOMEI Backupper Version 1.5
AOMEI Backupper is a specialized Windows backup freeware noted for its well-designed user interface. On 3rd Aug, it has been upgraded to version 1.5 with several advanced new functions. The last version 1.1.1 was released back in February 2013. What have AOMEI Tech been working on this software in these past six months? Let’s go have a look.
1. Schedule Backup
In version 1.5, we can finally set a schedule for the software to perform backup. In Daily Mode, we can choose a certain time point in a day for automatic backup. Or we can set up a time frame first, then choose the time interval between each backup. In this way, we can backup multiple times in a day. As for Weekly Mode, you can choose the day(s) in a week for the software to do the backup. About Monthly Mode, we can also choose the day(s) in a month to perform the backup periodically.
2. Backup to NAS
Since NAS device has proved itself very useful in data sharing and transferring, more and more users from small business prefer to use a NAS as their major storage device. Now, with AOMEI Backupper version 1.5, we can back up the data to NAS as well as restore the data from NAS. When choosing the destination path for backup, new option “Share/NAS Device” will be available in the option list. After it has been selected, we just need to enter the IP address of our NAS device. The rest works exactly the same as backing up to an external drive. A thing needs to be mentioned is that this function still works in bootable CD environment.
3. Dynamic Volume Supported
Dynamic volumes provide us with more flexibility than basic disks can give. They enable the users to set up software RAID directly without hardware RAID controller. It’s been mostly used by the user who has in-depth IT knowledge and advanced need in security. AOMEI Backupper version 1.5 now fully supports the dynamic volumes. No more need for you to worry about losing data on dynamic volumes again.
4. Bootable USB Drive Supported
With this function, the user can directly create an image for AOMEI Backupper and burn it into a USB storage device. Thus we can simply launch AOMEI Backupper to perform the backup without accessing into operating system. This would be extremely helpful when your system is crashed.
5. GPT and UEFI Boot Fully Supported
GPT style has many advantages compared to the traditional MBR style. Such as more numbers of the primary partitions supported and larger storage hard drive supported. Therefore, people nowadays tend to choose GTP style. The same thing is also happened on UEFI boot mode. It’s way faster than BIOS boot mode. And currently, almost all the computer manufactures fully support UEFI boot in their products. To catch these trends and also provide the users with more choices, GPT style and UEFI boot now can be completely supported with AOMEI Backupper version 1.5.
Apart from the new functions listed above, version 1.5 has also fixed some bugs and improved the stability of the performance.
With GPT style and UEFI boot modes supported, almost all the Windows users nowadays can execute backup/restore with AOMEI Backupper. And the schedule backup and backup to NAS functions will greatly enhance the security of your data. This time, we can finally say that AOMEI Backupper has become one of the best Windows backup freeware on the market after the upgrade of version 1.5.
