Initially, when you first sign into your back office, you will be taken back with how user friendly the site looks, even before you start typing your information. Here is an idea of what you will experience once you log in to your secure back office.
- You’ll notice that once you have entered your user credentials and have logged in, you will still see “TAX Organizer’s” home screen. Take a look at the navigation menu to the right of the “Store” link. There you will see “My Businesses”. Click on this link and then click on the button that reads “Add Business.” Once you have done this, you will then go through the process of setting up the profile for your business/s. All the fields in the profile area are required so please be sure to complete all of them and then click “Save.”
- Now, once you have saved the business/s you will be back to the “My Businesses” screen. This time though, it should look a little different. By different I mean you should see your company listed. To edit your company’s information, you’ll click “Edit”. To view the company’s transactions or to add transactions, click on “View”. At this point, you should see 3 groups; “Trips”, “Expense” and “Mileage”. The great thing about “TAX Organizer” is that you can customize how you track your taxes the way that works best for you. I personally do my expense groups by month. I do my mileage groups virtually the same as my expenses. Trips on the other hand are grouped by each individual trip. Once your groups have been set up, you will be able to start adding your various tax deductible expenses, which we will backed up on our servers for up to 3 years. That is as long as you are an active subscriber to our service.
- Receipts: This is where it gets really fun! As an outside sales rep for most of my adult life, I can tell you that had TAX Organizer been around at the beginning, life would have been a whole lot easier. In my opinion, the most exciting feature about this program is the ability to attach a picture of your receipts right to each transaction. No more putting receipts into envelopes hoping that I don’t lose any or that they don’t fade to the point where you can’t read them anymore. When you are scanning your receipts into your computer, please do so in jpg, since that is what we currently support. Each time you add a transaction, you can attach the receipt to that transaction for audit protection purposes should the IRS ever come knocking.
