I recently found an interesting program called Fedgees that adds new interaction between you and your computer desktop. Fedgees is a Windows widget that communicates with users by displaying conversations that show up above them in a talk bubble. A graphic called a Fedgee is shown along with a sound that plays each time, which really grabs the user’s attention. All of these settings can be changed to custom values quickly and easily.

The default Fedgee comes with a transparent .png graphic, so when you have it on your desktop, it “hovers” above the background. You can click and drag it to move anywhere on the screen and a simple right mouse click brings up the main menu. There are many ways to customize your Fedgee, but the most powerful is being able to load your own graphics/pictures, sounds, and conversation info. You can even record your voice on-the-fly for custom greetings that play every time a new talk bubble is displayed. Additionally, there are several modes that change the timing of when your Fedgee talks as well as appearance settings that can be modified to surprise someone with a greeting.

With all of the options available for Fedgees, there are countless creative ways to use this software. Custom greetings, slideshows, games, stories, and lessons are just some of the things you can create.
